Selecting Your Warmers

Lighted Glass Warmers

  • Uses the heat from incandescent light bulbs to melt the wax.

  • Often creates illuminating ambiance, due to having a light source.

  • Light bulb is replaceable.

  • If the warmer contains a lot of glass, it might be slightly slower at warming up to melt the wax.

  • Glass warmers don't need vent holes because they naturally allow the light (heat) to escape.

  • Glass warmers tend to perform decent, in regard to scent throw, when compared to other warmer materials.

  • Can get a little warm to the touch.

  • Typically comes in either 20, 25, or 40 watts. Always use the correct wattage light bulb.

  • Includes a 30-day satisfaction guarantee and a lifetime replacement warranty for manufacturing defects.

Lighted Ceramic Warmers

  • Uses the heat from incandescent light bulbs to melt the wax.

  • Often creates illuminating ambiance, due to having a light source.

  • Light bulb is replaceable.

  • Usually heats up the quickest, thus melts the wax sooner.

  • Ceramic warmers usually have vent holes to release excess heat. The vent holes might be in the form of shapes to project an image, silhouette, or shadow on a wall.

  • Ceramic warmers tend to perform the best, in regard to scent throw, when compared to other warmer materials.

  • Can get very warm to the touch.

  • Typically comes in either 20 or 25 watts. Always use the correct wattage light bulb.

  • Includes a 30-day satisfaction guarantee and a lifetime replacement warranty for manufacturing defects.

Lighted Metal Warmers

  • Uses the heat from incandescent light bulbs to melt the wax.

  • Often creates illuminating ambiance, due to having a light source.

  • Light bulb is replaceable.

  • Usually heats up at a decent pace, thus melting the wax sooner.

  • Metal warmers usually have vent holes to release excess heat. The vent holes might be in the form of shapes to project an image, silhouette, or shadow on a wall.

  • Metal warmers tend to perform well, in regard to scent throw, when compared to other warmer materials.

  • Can get warm to the touch.

  • Typically comes in either 20 or 25 watts, or rarely 40. Always use the correct wattage light bulb.

  • Includes a 30-day satisfaction guarantee and a lifetime replacement warranty for manufacturing defects.

Element Warmers

  • Uses a heating element (similar to a hotplate) to melt the wax.

  • Does not create an illuminating ambiance, due to its lack of a light source. However, few element warmers do incorperate decorative lighting, but that lighting is not for melting wax.

  • Due to not having illumination, all element warmers include an indicator light at the rear of the warmer to distinguish its current power state.

  • The heating element is not replaceable. However, see Scentsy's lifetime replacement guarantee.

  • Element warmers that uses a loose wax dish sitting atop the heating element tend to melt the wax slower and result in a shorter scent throw.

  • Element warmers that allow the wax to have direct contact with the heating element, tend to melt the wax faster and result in a further scent throw.

  • Typically comes in a range between 8 and 12 watts, occasionally 15 and 18 watts. Element warmer wattage isn't usually listed on the product page, instead it can be located on the bottom of the warmer. The higher the wattage, with wax in direct contact with the heating element, will yield superior performance.

  • Element warmers are ideal for traveling, because of its lack of a breakable glass light bulb.

  • Includes a 30-day satisfaction guarantee and a lifetime replacement warranty for manufacturing defects.

Mini Warmers

  • Uses the heat from incandescent light bulbs to melt the wax.

  • Often creates illuminating ambiance, due to having a light bulb.

  • Light bulb is replaceable.

  • Glass warmers might be slightly slower at warming up to melt the wax, and may not throw scent as far when compared to ceramic or metal warmers.

  • Ceramic and metal warmers usually have vent holes to release excess heat, and may throw scent further when compared to glass warmers.

  • Typically only comes in 15 watts. Always use the correct wattage light bulb.

  • Includes a 30-day satisfaction guarantee and a lifetime replacement warranty for manufacturing defects.

Final Points

  • A higher wattage warmer doesn't necessarily mean a warmer warmer; materials and overall design should also be considered (i.e. higher wattage glass warmers may indeed outperform lower wattage ceramic warmers).

  • Wider warmer dishes can allow more scent to be released since the pool of wax will be larger (though shallower).

  • The hotter the wax, the further the scent throw. But the sooner you might need to refresh with a new wax cube to prolong the fragrance in your space.

Scentsy Warmer Wax Dish Information

What's That Number Mean?

Have you ever wondered what that number stamped on many of your Scentsy wax dishes mean? Officially, it's the recommended number of cubes intended for that dish to fill your space with the most fragrance, but it's also the maximum number of cubes your wax dish can hold without having a "waxident" (wax accident).

Removing Wax From Warmers

For Melted Wax

  • #1 Method for Melted Wax in Mini Warmers: Toilet paper absorbs melted wax better than paper towels, because toilet paper is more pliable and softer, thus making it quicker at absorbing.

  • #1 Method for Melted Wax in Full-Size Warmers: A Cotton Cleanup quicky absorbs the wax within seconds. And one Cotton Cleanup can hold about 5 wax cubes worth of melted wax. The convenient cardboard handle on each Cotton Cleanup keeps your fingers away from touching hot wax. And the cotton fibers are woven more tightly than regular cotton balls, allowing the Cotton Cleanup to absorb and hold far more wax.

  • Cotton balls for all size warmers, but might leave leftover cotton fibers in the dish, and may get melted wax on your fingers.

  • Dump melted wax out, wipe clean with paper towel.

For Softened Wax

  • #1 Method for Softened Wax: Remove pliable wax using fingers, 20 minutes after warmer is turned off, or 10 minutes after warmer has been turned on.

  • Use a tool, like a Scentsy spatula handle, to dig out softened wax.

For Hardened Wax

  • #1 Method for Hardened Wax: Turn warmer on for about 5 minutes to allow the heat to loosen the hardened wax from the dish. Spin the hardened wax disk and slide it out of the dish.

  • Use a rigid flat tool along the wax edge to pry the harden wax out from the dish.

  • Place warmer dish in freezer for about 20 minutes, the hardened wax should slide right out because the freezing temperature contracts the wax.

Removing Stains From Warmer Dish

  • Black Raspberry Vanilla Scentsy Bar, just warm the scent like you would any other scent. The stains will be gone when you remove the used wax. Use a Cotton Cleanup, or a paper towel to wipe the dish clean afterward. No additional effort needed.

  • Rubbing alcohol and elbow grease.

  • Counter Clean, soak for 15 minutes
